Amazing photos — do we know who the people were who made the petroglyphs? The faces are very cheerful compared to others I’ve seen pictures of.
There was a debate if the petroglyphs here are authentic or recently done (ie., fake). I think they’re authentic. The Pueblo people lived here, and these are common symbols. Probably each artist had their own style.
Oh, yeah, and I agree–they do look cheerful!

If the mica were gold, you’d be rich! Amazing how chunky and glittery it is! I’m having flashbacks to my childhood, hiking in those same places ; )
I love the contrast between soft and hard, bright and soft, fleeting and eternal. You are poeticizing (if there is such a word) with visual images rather than word painting.
